The building
< back forward >

The structure itself surely has its own history, a story of life and families.

Unfortunately only a portion of that intriguing story is known... the parts I have been able to piece together by speaking to previous inhabitants, and their descendants.
We consider ourselves fortunate enough to have met Signor Piero, Signora Emilia, and Angelina...

Signor Piero was 92 years old and still able to enjoy his daily bicycle ride when he proudly reported that his mother came to live in this courtyard when she was just two years old. He himself had helped restore a portion of the building at the age of 18.

My rendition is an attempt to revive the spirit and glory of what was previously erased by a ‘cold, modern renovation’. Some things have been salvaged, some rebuilt and some invented.. using decorations, furniture, and intriguing object picked up here and there.
Hopefully these treasures will be able to kindle your memories of the past and warm your heart and spirit.
